I Wrote This For Money

I Wrote This For You - Iain Thomas, pleasefindthis, Jon Ellis

"And you almost killed me,but I didn't die"

I suppose I'm becoming a little cynic towards romantic poetry. Some of these poems sounded like dialogue from a cheesy TV movie. The book describes it as hauntingly beautiful,I describe it as hauntingly boring.

I can understand why this would appeal to many people, but it didn't do for me. The idea of depending on someone to live and work correctly isn't too romantic,it sounds more scary than anything.

Anyways, not all of the poetry in here is bad or boring. Curiously, the best ones don't focus mainly on loving someone:

"I've taken the same ride too many times

I could fall asleep in the loop.

I know the clowns wipe the fake, makeup

smiles off their faces once the show is done.

I know the lions sleep in cages at night.

I know the tightrope walkers have blisters on

their feet.

I know the ringmaster doesn't believe in what

he yells to the crowd anymore.

I know the strongman isn't as strong as he

once was.

I know the candy floss has always been, just

sugar and air.

You are the only reason I come back here every

night"

Sentence: You could probably find better stuff. But if you're intrigued,go for it.
